Blisovi Fe 1/20 is a brand name for a combination hormonal birth control pill. It contains two active ingredients: ethinyl estradiol, which is a synthetic form of estrogen, and norethindrone, which is a synthetic form of progestin. These hormones work together to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to impede sperm movement, and altering the uterine lining to make it less receptive to implantation.
Blisovi Fe is typically taken once a day, at the same time each day, for 21 consecutive days, followed by 7 days of a pill containing iron (Fe), during which a withdrawal bleed (similar to a period) usually occurs. This iron helps to offset the iron that is naturally lost during the withdrawal bleed. "1/20" is the ratio of norethindrone (1 mg) to ethinyl estradiol (20 mcg).
